Notes for introducing bases - this is Part 1 of 2 about bases which covers base as soap. Part 2 covers bases and acids.
This goes along with the "B is for Base" page in The General Chemistry Alphabet Book, and they are black and white so that they can be colored. The idea behind the activities was to have young (elementary) and older (middle or high school) students pair up and perform these activities together.
The first page contains notes about bases and soaps and then there are two different activities about oil spills and how they affect bird feathers and also how to clean up oil spills in water. Each activity includes a Data and Results page for the students to record their observations and conclusions.
